"The largest land mammal on Earth is one of the biggest challenges for any wildlife artist. This piece is my largest to date and was a labour of love. It depicts a bull passing by, not overly confrontational, but giving a warning through the dust. This painting comes from my experiences throughout Africa, but specifically the Lake Manyara region."

"You never forget your first wild leopard. I had heard them before, up and down the continent, and even been stalked by one, but it was Serengeti where we finally saw the most elusive of cats."

"To reach this place, the Mahale Mountains bordering Lake Tanganyika and the Democratic Republic of Congo, I had been the most ill I have ever been in my life. I couldn't walk for two days. But on the third day, after struggling through the forest, it was all worth it."

"A hot air balloon over the endless plains of Tanzania is a surprisingly good way to watch hippos. This large bull was inspired by several trips to Tarangire."

The River Horse

"My painting 'Delta' came about after visiting the Shire River, Malawi. This trip was like going back in time. The wildlife was the same, the wilderness was the same and the people still get about using dugout boats."

“The vast dryness of the Namib, the oldest desert in the world, was a place at a glance so barren and yet in reality, teeming with life. But for a fuller picture, I wanted to take to the skies.”
